Ryan Babel just had a really good first half for Fulham against Spurs. He's apparently spent his time abroad learning not to dribble the ball into three defenders and lose it.

I kind of hope he does well. Still good enough to be part of the Dutch national team (at 32).

In other 'He's still playing football?' news, Glen Johnson has retired from football.

Very nice article on Aspas's contribution to Celta's win over Villareal in the Guardian...

It was nice to see Rafa finally get the respect not just of a set of good, proper football fans, but of also the British press. He could have done something good with that club in the right circumstances, but Ashley is a nob.

Just thinking about Coutinho the other day and his wish to go to Barcelona and win trophies. Hasn't really worked out for him, I think it's fair to say. And you know who is almost in exactly the same situation, albeit with less talent? And who, I dare say, most Liverpool fans have hardly even thought about last season, let alone miss? Emre Can. Haven't followed him at all but certainly didn't hear a single word about him at Juve all season. I wonder if he'll regret leaving Liverpool more than Coutinho?

Yeah. Heard that Juve are buying midfielders, which bodes poorly for him, given he could barely unseat an aging Khedeira.

Peter Crouch retires at the age of 39. Always liked him as a person, even if he was mostly just functional as a player. Will miss singing his song.

It was always my dream to play for a big team, win trophies, and have them assign my squad number to someone else to let me know I mean nothing to them.
