Hitting it with real venom in the top corner helps, too!

Adopting the reverse often helps: would Emery have been so forgiving if it had been VVD on Pepe?

    Thought not.
Thank you. I like this new rule!

Yes. Powerful and hit the side netting (this inside, not the outside). Very difficult for the goalie to save.

By the way, the Super Cup, we were super lucky in two of our penalties. The goalie made contact with the ball, but the ball still went in.

Odd little stat: Only 3 teams (us, City, Arsenal) have won 2 games or more.

Dani Ceballos, latterly of Real, on his first Anfield experience with Arsenal (via The Guardian):

Liverpool”, Ceballos says, “was quite a lesson”. It takes him a moment to order his thoughts. “I’ve never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield; I haven’t seen a team that plays better, that presses like them, the way the fans carry them along. They take the air from you. You spend so much time defending and when you want to do something with the ball, when you want to breathe, they’re back on top of you. They’re very well-drilled.”
