Default Liverpool v Man City: Revenge is a dish best served on a cold, January afternoon at Anfield

No Coutinho, but fingers-crossed, Salah looks like he might be fit for our Sunday afternoon match-up against runaway league leaders Man City. Until Mane's sending off, I thought we looked well matched for Man City in the last game, so I am expecting a good match-up, which could go either way as they are very, very good.

    Dave's team:

    Mignolet

    Gomez Matip VvD Robertson

    Can Winjaldum Milner

    Salah Firmino Mane

Coutinho’s thigh injury worst than first feared. He’s out until the Spurs match at least.

This is ridiculous having to wait 9 days for a game. Bring back Xmas fixtures!

City had a tougher game than some expected last night, sure Pep would much have rather KDB and Sterling were rested after an hour but even Aguero had to get up off the bench for 20 minutes. A lot of football mounting up which catches up with some teams. But when you're winning everything like city it doesn't really seem to bother the players, the adrenaline from success keeps them going.

I must say I'd be absolutely bouncing about this game if we had the little magician along with the rest of our Fab 4 but that chapter has closed and a new one is starting. It's likely he'd have been injured anyway, just he always seemed to score against City.

Have a new King in town though and Salah can be the difference. City are so good going forward that they don't much need to be good at the back. Until the split second difference in the reverse game, Mane getting a red card, we were well in the game and at that point a few were still saying Salah missed too many chances. He'd missed 1, if not 2, golden opportunities to put us ahead, and we were, despite being 1-0 down, tearing them a new arsehole. It was shaping up to be a great game.

Hoping Lallana has a good game. He's not been at it since coming back which I understand, but we need him on song. It's a cliché but our boys must take their chances. Don't want to be sitting here Monday morning going "If only Bobby had tucked that one away from 6 yards before half-time" or "Salah scored again but should have had 3". Fine margins.

City don't need to win it, I think they'd happily walk away with a point to preserve their unbeaten run, maybe Chelsea and United cut the gap to 137 points but nothing to worry them. We have to go out and win it. Draw not the worst result for us, but this is a game Spurs and Arsenal are looking at closing back in on 4th spot, 3 points would give us such great momentum. And maybe, a win sends a message to City, you got away from us early doors this season and fair play you've deserved it. But we're coming up the hill boys. Next season wont' be so easy.

    Come on you mighty reds.

5-0 red men. VVD first goal.

Maybe you should cut down the salt in your diet. You seem bloated.

    ... approximately .20 x Kyle Walker.

With Moreno back in training do you foresee a Moreno/Robertson platoon like Gomez/Alexander-Arnold or a starter/backup situation or a horses-for-courses approach based on who we play?
‘How many mistakes are you allowed?’ Klopp asked the fourth official. ‘Because if it’s 15, you’ve got one left.’
