    They're all sober, honest
Found this link some time ago. There are some decent songs that we can sing this weekend.

Here is another Robbie Fowler song that I found. I am gutted because I might have to miss the derby game because I am participating in a wedding:

    Robbie Fowler
Sung to the tune of Amore

When the ball hits the net
Its a fairly safe bet that its Fowler
    Robbie Fowler

    And When Liverpool score
You will hear the Kop roar "Oh, its Fowler
    Robbie Fowler"

    Ian Rush, Roger Hunt
Who's the best man up front? "Oh, its Fowler
    Robbie Fowler"

He's the King of the Kop
He's the best of the lot
    Robbie Fowler

Reactivating this thread and making it a sticky...

Part of the newly launched RTK campaign is to get everyone on the same page with songs/chants at Anfield. Songs get started but peter out because the words aren't known by everyone or the same songs get sung over and over for the same reason - this also an issue for us obviously at The 11th Street as our knowledge is certainly way behind on that front. Many only get to learn new (and old) bits from the visiting Scousers in every week.

For those who don't bother with the official LFC site, RTK has started a repository of songs/chants on the OS with both lyrics and links to audio to facilitate learning the "classics". I'll be posting links to them in the thread, but please, any regular matchgoers that hear new songs (or see old ones missing/misquoted), continue posting them here as well.

The first was obviously "Poor Scouser Tommy" - audio here lyrics here

Today is "Every Other Saturday" - audio here lyrics here

There is also a copy of the magnificent "The Twelfth Man - From The Albert" CD at the bar, so we'll have to make sure it continues to get a good broadcast at some point each matchday.

So have a listen, give 'em a warble yourself, and let's hear 'em on Saturday (or today, for that matter), please!

Default A "Golden Oldie" from the sixties

I honestly don't believe it is looking back with rose-tinted glasses when I say that the old Kop used to be a lot more inventive when it came to producing new songs. In the 60's and 70's alongside the "standards" were a bewildering quantity of songs/chants that were often short-lived as they changed and were replaced with great speed and frequency.

Very often adapted/customised versions of the latest songs from the hit parade rang out over Anfield, to be quickly replaced with "cover versions" of the newer hits that replaced their predecessors. It was a continuous process, and very few of those songs survived to be remembered today.

One that did (in some of our memories, anyway) was a brilliant cover version of the Tom Jones hit, "The Green green grass of home"......

"Well, the old ground looks the same,
As I arrive to watch the game,
And there's the green, green grass that Liddell used to play on,
    Hunt, St John and Thompson,
Score the goals when Shankly wants 'em,
It's good to watch the greatest team at home,....

Yes we'll all come to see 'em
    Liverpool (pause)
    Are the Champions,
It's good to watch the greatest team at home"

One of my Uncles' favourite songs, especially when pissed and winding up the local bluenoses down the pub!

Greetings from England! Hope this helps ...

Would like the words to the following ones though:

    1. The Rafa Benitez song - believe it's to "La Bamba" (at least, that always sounds like the tune?). "Ra-fa Ra-fa Benitez... then says "Xabi Alonso, Garcia and ____" (was initially Nunez - did it finally get changed?) And if it's not "La Bamba", what's it sung to then?

    2. The Stevie Finnan song (as BDave mentioned)

We've got a right back called Steve Finnan,
When he plays we're always winnin'
    Pass the ball out,
    And back in again,
We've got a right back called Steve Finnan.

    Second verse.

We used to have a left back called Traore,
When he plays it's a different story,
Goal at Burnley was his glory,
We used to have a left back called Traore.

    3. Believe there's a "Rafa in Istanbul" song?

    Ra Ra Ra Ra-fa Benitez!
Ra Ra Ra Ra-fa Benitez! Xabi Alonso, Garcia and Reina!

    Rafa Benitez!
    Rafa Benitez!

    Ra Ra Ra Ra-fa Benitez!
Ra Ra Ra Ra-fa Benitez! Xabi Alonso, Garcia and Reina!
