Premiership Round Up
With the league season over, what events at other clubs will affect Liverpool?
One I can think of is Tottenham's failure to qualify for the Champions' League. Spurs have been hyperactive in the transfer market of late, signing up all the decent British players that don't make it to Chelsea. They're definitely trying to muscle their way into the top echelon of the Premiership, and CL qualification would have really helped them. As it is, they have a harder challenge to sign new talent and keep their best players than had they made it. This can only be for the benefit of Liverpool in the close season - there remain four 'big clubs' for top players to consider, not five.

RED CARD
Newcastle's late resurgence is interesting, as without it Owen would have walked for sure. Now Owen has a chance to break all scoring records in the Inter Toto Cup. Will Liverpool chase him in the summer. I don't expect so.
Man City, Bolton and Charlton's late season form showed why their Pearce, Alladyce and Curbishey were not up for the Engerland job, though each of them had insane amounts of praise heeped upon them by major columinist or other. Some players also failed to keep up the intensity when they needed it most. Are Liverpool going to be interested in the likes of Nolan, Barton, O'Brien and others. Portsmouth's climb to safety was enjoyable, as they played their way out of trouble. I still think firing Sven 5 minutes before the Paraguay game and replacing him with Redknapp would give Engerland a better chance this summer.
