Are you f**cking kidding me??? Lock or delete this thread??? It's pure comedy gold.Originally Posted by Albert Stubbins

And other Ghanians not lucky enough to be either an elder or a witch doctor, so we just have to lump them into the generic pigeon hole of Other. I suppose one day they'll be able to make the jump to elder, though witch doctor might be rather difficult, what with the price of witch doctor medical school these days.
However, using such obviously unbiased sources as Ghanians to declare that Ghana was the best team in the world in the 1950s when they played only 15 games, well, that's just genius. Absolute, pure, unadulterated genius. Y'know they say the genius ideas are the simple ones and there you go, proving that aphorism again.
For a moment, I was afraid that the witch doctors might have disagreed with the the elders and the others and voted for, oh, say, the Magnificent Magyars, but, phew!! close one, luckily they did vote for Ghana. I suppose there also was the possibility that, in a bid for noterity, signifcance and importance, the Others might have sided with Nigeria as the world's best team in the 60s. But the Others are obviously smart and as they are aspirant witch doctors and elders, they hewed to the party line and voted........taaaaaa daaaaaaaa......GHANA!!!! the best team in the world in the 60s also. Still, I'm sure it was a close decision also. But don't you just hate it when the Others get so uppity? Looking to be taken seriously 'n all?
I am intrigued, however, with the Harry Kewell angle. Am I misunderstanding or did they proclaim him a great player? Just like Ghana was the greatest team in the world in the 50s and 60s? Or was that a split vote, with perhaps the witch doctors falling into the undecided or spolied vote column? Now why would you think that the witch doctors might have given up on Harry? 'Cos he's lost his mojo, perhaps?
Anyway, the most important thing is that you used unbiased sources (Ghanian) to declare Ghana the best team in the world in the 50s and 60s, without ever having seen the team play yourself. But you are sure that the witch doctors, elders and Others sat down religiously and watched them play, while also comparing them to all the other great teams in the world in their day, a day which was by and large before television, and declared that the only team they watched was the best team in the world. The logic is stunning if nothing else.
Now about closing or locking the thread? Well, as I've already indicated, given the high comedy value herein, that's unlikely. However, for a price, I suppose I could delete the entire thing, and erase what has to be a source of embarassment, along with the witch doctors, elders and Others...........on second thoughts.....the comedy value is too good here. Naaaaaaaaa, let's let it run.
