Josemi to play more this season

From the official site..... When they say he turned in a good display in the super cup, its hard to know what they could mean. having watched it on tape, he was pretty awful.
Somewhat worrying that Benitez wants Josemi but not Owen in the squad.

Rafael Benitez has revealed Spanish defender Josemi will feature much more in his first team plans this season.
Josemi impressed in a central defensive role against CSKA Sofia last week and then turned in a good display at right back in the Super Cup final win over CSKA Moscow.

The former Malaga man endured an injury hit first season on Merseyside last year, but Benitez insists he has enough quality to play his part in the Reds' quest for honours over the coming months.

He said: "Josemi can be an important player for us. He is a good player, an aggressive player, and he is getting more used to English football now.

"He played very well at centre back last week. I knew he could play there because he spent a year in that position with Malaga. Of course he can also play on the right of the defence as well so he gives us different possibilities.

"He was unfortunate last season because he had so many injury problems, but if he can stay fit then he will be an important member of our squad this year."

let me translate for you FP...Milito and Andrade weren't interested or their clubs wanted even more than Crouch cost me and the summer window is about closed so don't think this failure+ some Bundesliga player you never heard of means we didn't strengthen the defense.
