  1. Re: Chelsea v Liverpool: Shed End? More like Bell End!

    VVD should be dropped for the Napoli howler; a decent spell in the U-18s should sort him out!

    I think we will see Wijnaldum as the midfield was missing penetration against Napoli. I've a felling...
  2. Re: Napoli v Liverpool: When the moon hits your eye like a Napoli Ultra's belt-wrapped fist...

    There was a lot more to Napoli's tactics than keeping Firmino quiet, but once you do, our attack needs help and a midfield of Henderson, Milner and Fabinho is not best equipped to do that.

  3. Re: Napoli v Liverpool: When the moon hits your eye like a Napoli Ultra's belt-wrapped fist...

    Well, that wasn’t in the script.

    Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson;

    Fabinho, Milner, Henderson;

    Stones gone for 4-5 weeks.

    Re: Wilkommen Juergen

    Triple digit? Anything above room temperature I would have thought.

    Real is always going to be a peripatetic circus; the interesting problem is going to be Barcelona. Barcelona post-Messi.

    Re: Wilkommen Juergen

    Obviously, like every Liverpool fan, I’m hoping he extends. Let’s see how persuasive FSG can be.

    I’m guessing he’s not so motivated by money that it’ll just mean increasing his salary and he...

    Re: Wilkommen Juergen

    AS, the Spanish outlet that's, say, ummm, not exactly a paragon of reliability is reporting that Barca and Real are in a bidding war to sign Klopp as El Jefe and VVD for the fun of it. And there's...
  12. Re: Napoli v Liverpool: When the moon hits your eye like a Napoli Ultra's belt-wrapped fist...

    Added bonus here is that it is our most difficult game, so we get it out of the way early on and can correct if the result goes against us. Of course if we win, it makes life an awful lot easier. I...
  13. Re: Man City a-go-go... Biggest club in the world, my arse!

    Laporte is not the biggest loss at CB for City this season, that’s Kompany.

    A City fan, friend of mine, says playing Otamendi and Stones at CB would be our equivalent of playing Lovern and Lovern.
  14. Re: Man City a-go-go... Biggest club in the world, my arse!

    Good to see Stones and Otamendi doing such a bang up job at Carrow Road.
  15. Re: Fathead brings the dwarves to Anfield. Newcastle home.

    BT suggested - not that I agree - that the ref saw it firstly as a 50/50 tussle and secondly because Matip got his header away, that he hadn’t been unduly infringed upon. Judgement call and they’re...
  16. Re: Fathead brings the dwarves to Anfield. Newcastle home.

    I think we got a glimpse of why Klopp sometimes goes for Gomez when a more defensive perspective is needed.

    Their goal was superb, well taken, great shot and will be up there for goal of the...
  17. Re: Fathead brings the dwarves to Anfield. Newcastle home.

    Dayyyamn!!! Was just composing a post to say that there was a goal coming and then Salah! (Lost the opportunity to absolutely show what perceptive reader of game I am!! ;))

    BTW, anyone see Salah...

    Adrian;

    Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson;

    Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho, Wijnaldum;

    Salah, Mane, Origi.

    Subs: Milner, Firmino, Gomez, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Kelleher.
  19. Re: Fathead brings the dwarves to Anfield. Newcastle home.

    Per The Guardian, Andy Carroll is not fit for “an emotional return” to Anfield.

    Emm, so which exactly would those emotions be?
  20. Re: Liverpool v Arsenal: First 'Top Six' Team of the Season

    Dani Ceballos, latterly of Real, on his first Anfield experience with Arsenal (via The Guardian):

    “Liverpool”, Ceballos says, “was quite a lesson”. It takes him a moment to order his thoughts....
  21. Fathead brings the dwarves to Anfield. Newcastle home.

    Back after the international break and I think all LFC players got through unscathed. Which means that the medical team had time to work on Alisson and Keita and the training team to work with...

  25. Re: Man City a-go-go... Biggest club in the world, my arse!

    Slow news week. I see Laporte has gone down with knee ligament injuries and will be out for a while; I figured that, cheque book notwithstanding, City were always going to miss Kompany, especially in...
